ICT department called on Swiss companies to invest in ICT sector

The Department of Information and Communication Technology has called on Swiss-based companies to invest in the country's ICT sector. NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Department, made the call while participating in the road show titled 'Investor Summit: Bangladesh Capital Markets of Rise of Bengal Tiger' organized in the Swiss capital Zurich on September 20. The ICT Secretary called upon the Swiss companies to invest in Bangladesh mentioning the target set by the government of Bangladesh to 100% digitalize government activities and to connect 100% population with internet network, creating 5 million jobs in IT and ITES and earning $5 billion as revenue from the IT sector alone. The road show organized by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) highlights the potential of Bangladesh's economy, investment, trade, Bangladeshi goods and services, capital markets and bond markets. Prof. Shibli Rubayet-ul-Islam, Chairman, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), said that Bangladesh was moving ahead through competition by exporting quality products. As a result, the volume of exports is constantly increasing. Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Executive Chairman Major General. Nazrul Islam and BSEC Commissioner Sheikh Shamsuddin Ahmed in their speeches highlighted the different stages of foreign investment in Bangladesh. Taking part in the road show, the speakers called for investment in the country. Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Abdur Rauf Talukder also spoke on the occasion.
